PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To turn on or off an electric circuit by preventing a seismic sensor that is moved by earthquake motion from being affected easily by the shape of a container for accommodating the sensor and by following the earthquake motion faithfully. SOLUTION: This combustion heater consists of combustion equipment 1 for burning fuel, a device 2 for adjusting the amount of fuel supply for controlling the amount of supply to the fuel of the combustion equipment 1, an earthquake motion sensor 5 for outputting an electrical on/off signal by switching electrical contact when responding to earthquake motion accompanying a velocity exceeding a specific value, and a control circuit 7 for controlling the device 2 for adjusting the amount of fuel supply based on the output signal of the earthquake motion sensor 5. Then, the earthquake motion sensor 5 is composed of a spherical body 16 that is made of a conductive material as an acceleration- sensitive body, and a case body 10 for sealing the spherical body 16 into a closed region. Then, when the spherical body 16 receives earthquake motion accompanying an acceleration exceeding a specific value in the case body 10 for traveling over a specific distance, an electric circuit that is formed via the spherical body 16 is broken, thus outputting an electrical on/off signal.
