PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic control backup device which is excellent in maintainability without any complicate structure of the device, smaller in the cost of the device than an electronic control device, capable of improving the control performance compared with a mechanical control device, and reliable in backup when the electronic control device is failed. SOLUTION: In the electronic control backup device of an internal combustion engine in which the operation timing of engine elements is controlled by a solenoid valve to be operated by the electronic control, the backup device comprising a rotating body which is synchronously rotated with an engine and set in the operation timing of the engine elements, a timing detecting means to detect the operation timing of the engine elements from the rotating body, and a solenoid valve control means to operate the solenoid valve based on the detected operation timing is connected to the electronic control device via a switching means.
