PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tripod of light weight capable of quick unfolding. SOLUTION: A load supporting central supporter has three peripheral hinge members, each of three multi-step freely housed leg assembly units is mounted in one of the above hinge members, each of the above leg assembly units comprises at least two compression resisting members connected to each other by a nest type joint, at least one cam lock unit is connected to each of the above nest type joints each of the above cam lock units has a first engaging position impeding a relative axial motion shortening a length of the above leg assembly unit and a second non-engaging position freely moving the above leg assembly unit in any axial direction, each of the above cam lock units is energized to the above engaging position for automatically locking a tripod to an unfolding position, the above automatic locking is performed by a pressure applied onto the above cam lock unit by extension of the connected above leg assembly unit, a manually accessible release element for each of the above leg assembly unit is included for independently releasing at least one cam lock unit connected to the leg assembly unit, in this way, a length of the leg assembly unit can be shortened. |
