PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for outputting a printed matter, by the use of an ordinary paper, which facilitates discrimination of an original and a copy, and is capable of preventing illegal copying. SOLUTION: Through the use of two kinds of dither patterns which are equal in density and different in shapes to a background area 6 and a character area 7 respectively, a copying inhibiting pattern generation part 4 generate a copying inhibiting pattern where, although a hidden character string cannot be discriminated by looking at the original, but the hidden character string can be discriminated by looking at the printed result, that is, in the case of copying the original with a scanner and copying it with a copying machine such as a copying machine for reproducing the original on an ordinary paper. |
