PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive protective cap for an optical connector plug, a protective cap having a function for preventing it from falling off from the optical connector as well as a function for engaging/disengaging the cap with/from the connector easily and quickly with one operation. SOLUTION: In the protective cap C that is freely elastically fitted to the tip end of an optical connector plug P in a freely attachable/detachable manner; a slot 9 to be fitted onto the guide projection 5 of the optical connector plug P is formed at the end of the opening part of the protective cap C while, in the part opposite from the tip end of the slot 9 opening, the engaging projections 9a, 9a are projectingly provided which can be engaged with both rear end sides of the guide projection 5 of the optical connector plug P.
