PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrule having the simplified manufacturing process as well as the reduced manufacturing cost and an optical connector. SOLUTION: The ferrule 10 is provided with a hole 12 for inserting and holding an optical fiber 100, and is retained in a through-hole 41 provided in a plug frame 40; the ferrule is cylindrically shaped and provided, in the periphery of the tip end, with at least one groove 15 which is extendedly formed along the axial direction and for engaging with a projection 42 in the through- hole 41 of the plug frame 40.
