PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a V-ribbed belt reducing the vibration and abnormal sound on the slacken side, elongate the service life of the belt, and suppress the slip sound during driving of an automobile in the rain by suppressing extension and slip of a belt. SOLUTION: This V-ribbed belt 1 has a stranded core wire 4 of the total denier 4,000-8,000 formed by stranding polyester fiber filaments group having ethylene-2, 6-naphthalate as its main component unit, has a belt tensile elastic modulus 19,000-25,000 N/rib, and contains cotton short fiber 5-20 pts.wt. in a compression part.
