PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus, for the sorting of the frequency of a quartz oscillator, in which the break and the damage of a quartz piece as well as a bad effect by static electricity are prevented, in which the frequency is sorted surely and in which productivity can be increased. SOLUTION: A quartz wafer is fixed and bonded to a dicing sheet so as to be divided into a plurality of quartz pieces. The quartz pieces are sucked. The oscillation frequency of the quartz pieces is measured so as to be sorted into oscillation frequency regions. The apparatus is constituted by providing a sheet takeout process 30 in which the dicing sheet with many arranged quartz pieces is taken out from a sheet-housing implement. The apparatus is constituted by providing an exfoliation process 31 in which the quartz pieces are set to an exfoliation state from the dicing sheet. The apparatus is constituted by providing a frequency measuring process 33 in which the quartz pieces are sucked from the dicing sheet so as to measure the oscillation frequency. The apparatus is constituted by providing a frequency sorting process 34 in which a frequency measuring signal from the frequency measuring process 33 is received so as to sort the quartz pieces into the frequency regions.
