PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoreceptor having such generally good characteristics that residual potential causing voids is low and the photoreceptor is less liable to light interference such as moire. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor is a laminate type photoreceptor with at least an electrically conductive substrate, an electric charge generating layer and an electric charge transferring layer. The electric charge generating layer contains high purity titanium dioxide having >=99 wt.% purity and an electric charge generating material. The average particle diameter of the titanium dioxide is preferably <=0.1μm. A coating solvent for the electric charge transferring layer is preferably THF.
