PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of efficiently producing a sound absorbing material satisfying good sound absorption characteristic, weatherability, form stability, high tenacity, workability, mounting workability, water-retaining characteristics, fire retardance, ventilatability, etc. SOLUTION: This sound absorbing material is composed of a center material and surface skin cloth of synthetic resin fibers cladding this center material and this center material is formed by laminating at least two layers fiber assemblies partially adhered with the synthesize fibers to each other.
