PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that each of the picture of a cover page, a picture held by an application software and a picture of an original which has to be read cannot be transmitted by a mode which a user desires for transmission (monochromatic, and color and/or gray scale, etc.). SOLUTION: A popup menu for selecting color or monochromatic transmission of a cover page is provided in a Cover Page section 47. A popup menu for selecting a color or monochromatic mode to transmit a picture held by the application software is provided in an Application section 48. A popup menu for selecting a color or monochromatic mode to transmit the picture of an original set on a scanner is provided in a Document section 49.
