PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely close a fluid flow passage by means of a valve element by removing foreign matter that may be present on the sliding surface of the valve element in a valve frame, prior to closure of the fluid flow passage. SOLUTION: Elastic foreign matter removing members 7a and 7b, which initially slide against the sliding surface 6 of the valve element at both sides of the fluid flow passage 3 when the fluid flow passage 3 is closed, have their respective rear ends 8a secured to both ends of the valve element 2 along sliding direction. Preferably, the foreign matter removing members 7a and 7b have different lengths and are made of corrosion resistant material.
