Blank retainer has a bundle (3) of elastic rods which exert a predetermined pressure on the blank (6) to hold it in place. The elastic bundle forms a column (7) perpendicular to the plane of the support frame. One end of the column is pressed against the metal sheet and the other end has a pressure spring attached to the movable press frame (2). The column can slide in an aperture formed in a guide. The elastic column can have a protective cap.
