PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device of which the power consumption can be saved without complicating driving control. SOLUTION: In this image forming device, an image is formed on a recording medium and is thermally fixed by a fixing means. The device is provided with an image forming means for forming the image on the recording medium, a fixing means for thermally fixing the image formed on the recording medium, a detection means for detecting the temperature of the fixing means, a control means for controlling the temperature of the fixing means, and a mode switching means for setting a power saving mode in which the power consumption is restrained and releasing the setting, and the device is shifted to the state of a power saving mode even in a state other than a state where the image forming means can form the image and a standby state where the fixing means can fix the image. |
