PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems by accompanying the slip of a pair of rolls arranged one above the other so as to come into contact with the belt-like body in a passage for the belt-like body, which problems arise when only one of the rolls is driven and the surface of a belt-like body is subjected to a specified treatment while the belt-like body is transported by using the treatment of the belt-like body to execute the treatment described above. SOLUTION: When the surface of the belt-like body is subjected to the specified treatment by driving only one of a pair of the upper and lower treating rolls arranged in the passage for the belt-like body, the ends of a pair of the treating rolls are brought into contact with each other by maintaining the ends in the state of a high coefficient of friction and the pair of the treating rolls are rotated in synchronization.
