PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera capable of appropriately dealing with even the occurrence of a fault with respect to power supply at the time of a remote control mode operation without burdening an operator and improving its reliability. SOLUTION: An electronic camera main body 1 can set a remote control mode irrespectively of whether a power source is turned on or not. Therefor, a lens barrier of the main body 1 is constituted so as to be acted as a switch for holding ON or OFF state by slidably opening/closing the lens barrel. Since a time starting clocking from power supply and detecting that prescribed time elapses is provided to be suitable for the remote control mode operation, in the case that power is supplied from the outside, the mode is automatically shifted to the remote control mode operation, when the times is in time-out after the lapse of the prescribed time from the turning on of the power source after the power is interruption and restored.
