The system includes an integral data recording system enabling sequenced image information to be held and recalled. The procedure for viewing audio-visual broadcasts includes use of a digital television receiver receiving information from a central transmitter, and recording this information in a memory associated with the receiver. At the heart of the receiver is a process for configuring a sequential transmission list, and a stage for viewing the recorded transmissions according the order defined by the configuration stage. The configuration stage includes assigning an ordered number to each transmission in the sequential list. The user may select from the sequenced data in order to create the required transmission list.
