PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically crop or zoom a photograph according to a main subject, even in an image having an irregular background. SOLUTION: A method, a computer program, and a system for cropping a digital image input the intention map of the photographic image (a intention value at a place in the intention map shows the importance of a photograph subject at the same place in the photographic image), select zoom magnification and a cropping window, cluster areas of the intention map so as to discriminate a background part, a subordinate part, and a main part, arrange a cropping window around the main part of the highest intention value, move the cropping window, so that the cropping window is completely included in the image, move the cropping window so that the sum of intention values is maximum, and crop the image according to the cropping window. |
