PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive video display device mounted on head which can display data with high resolution. SOLUTION: A video display device mounted on the head is provided with a video display means where multi-pixels are two-dimensinally arranged, a face light emitting/illumination means irradiating the video display means with white illumination light, an optical system guiding a luminous flux on a video which is illuminated by the face light emitting/illumination means and emitted from the multi-pixels in the video display means to the eyeballs of a user so that it can be observed, a high picture quality means which time-sequentially refracts the optical path of light beams emitted from the pixels of the video display means, shifts the pixels and optically increases the number of apparent pixels by combining a polarization control element and a double refraction board between the video display means and the optical system and a switching means inputting an analog RGB signal, a composite video signal and an S video signal as the video signals and switching/displaying the signals.
