PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an induction magnetic head used for high density recording, having a structure wherein magnetic leakage at a part near to the magnetic pole of the tip of a magnetic core is prevented and the magnetic resistance of an upper magnetic core tip part is reduced. SOLUTION: An upper magnetic core opposed to a lower magnetic core through a magnetic gap layer consists of the upper magnetic core tip part near to the magnetic pole and an upper magnetic core back part as its back part. The upper magnetic core tip part has a parallel part extending to the inner part from the part of the magnetic pole and having the width nearly equal to the width of a track and a fan-shaped part at an inner part farther than its apex. The upper magnetic core tip part has a magnetic gap between the upper and lower magnetic cores at a part between the magnetic pole and the apex and the gap between the upper and lower cores is wider than the magnetic gap at the inner part farther than the apex. The tip part of the upper magnetic back part is overlapped by and connected to a part nearer to a medium counter surface than the apex of the upper magnetic core tip part and the upper magnetic core back part extends therefrom over a coil and a coil insulating layer.
