PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an endoscope system by which a surgical operator and assistants can easily confirm prescribed areas such as dissection parts and coagulated parts on an endoscope image and can smoothly attain a surgical operation by means of the endoscope image. SOLUTION: An image processing unit 11 is provided with an endoscope image signal processing section 51 that generates an endoscope image from a video image signal of a TV camera 6, a line drawing generating section 52 that generates a line drawing to specify a prescribed position or a prescribed area of an endoscope image generated by the endoscope image signal processing section 51 and an image synthesis section 53 that superimposes the line image generated by this line drawing generating section 52 on the endoscope image. Furthermore, the endoscope image signal processing section 51 also performs an image processing that maps address data sent from a system controller 15 at the prescribed position or area specified by the line drawing superimposed on the endoscope image and applies image processing to the mapped prescribed position or area and an observation object part.
