Hybridization analysis using low density nucleic acid arrays

The array of nucleic acid molecules consists of a solid substrate with a surface comprising discrete areas of nucleic acid molecules. At least one area contains at least 10 to 100 nucleic acid molecules selected to have different sequences. These arrays may be used in hybrization assays, especially in conjunction with cleavable mass spectrometry tags.
