PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paired electrode for detecting acidity and basicity of oil using a new electrode material suitable for semiconductor manufacturing technology without any substance influenced over environment. SOLUTION: In the paired electrode which senses the acidity and basicity in oil in accordance with a potential difference changes, a reference electrode is made cobalt or a cobalt alloy, and a sensitive electrode combined therewith to be used is made of tungsten or a tungsten alloy.
