PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal projector having improved display contrast without changing a device of the liquid crystal projector. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal projector provided with a liquid crystal shutter part constituted of at least a liquid crystal cell consisting of a pair of transparent substrates provided with electrodes and a nematic liquid crystal, two polarizing elements and two optically anisotropic layers consisting of hybrid aligned liquid crystal layers, the two optically anisotropic layers are interposed between the two polarizing elements and disposed so that the angle formed by the tilt directions of one and the other optically anisotropic layers is 85-100 degrees to obtain the liquid crystal projector having improved display contrast. |
