PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide which allows three-dimensional stereoscopic shaping with high productivity and ease of size and weight reduction and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A transfer film 20 formed with electric circuit patterns 22 is arranged within a lower metal mold 25 and an upper metal mold 29 having projecting parts 24 formed with cores 40 of the optical waveguide before injection molding is executed by using these metal molds 25 and 29 and thereafter injection molding is executed, by which a clad substrate 38 embedded with the transfer film 20 is formed. A high-polymer resin for the cores is packed into grooves 37 formed at this clad substrate 38 and is solidified to form the cores 40. These cores are covered with a clad film 41, by which the optical waveguide is obtained. The electric circuit patterns 22 are exposed by stripping a base film 21 of the transfer film 20, by which the electrical connection to elements, such as light receiving elements and light emitting elements, is made possible. Namely, the integral formation of the optical waveguide and the electric circuit patterns 22 is made possible. |
