PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize printing matched with the direction of images, when the image direction of originals can only be placed horizontally due to the structure of a copying machine, for a portrait and a landscape, since printing in consideration of the image direction of the original becomes possible in performing both- side printing to a sheet of copying paper for two sheets of originals. SOLUTION: In the copying machine which reads the image on the first and second originals consisting of a main scanning direction and sub-scanning direction and forming the copy images of these images respectively on the front surface and the back surface of the paper, the first original to be carried in the set direction of the original is read and stored, its image data is formed on the surface of the reading paper as it is without rotating, the second original to be carried in the set direction of the original is read and stored, its image data is read it is without rotating in accordance with setting or read by rotating by 180 deg. to be formed on the back surface of the paper.
