The invention relates to insoluble proteins, as well as to soluble or insoluble fragments thereof, which connect tumour necrosis factor (TNF) in a homogenous form and to their physiologically tolerable salts, in particular such proteins with molecular weight of about 55 or 75 kD (under the conditions of non-reducing SDS-PAGE), and to methods for the isolation of such proteins and to antibodies against them. The invention also relates to DNA-sequences which encode, for insoluble proteins and soluble or insoluble fragments thereof which connect TNF, as well as those which encode for proteins, consisting of partially soluble fragment which connects TNF, and partially of all spheres, with the exception of the first sphere of the constant sector of the heavy chain of the human immunoglobulin. The invention also relates to encoding recombinant proteins and to a method for their preparation by using transformed pro- and eukaryotic host cells. 13 claims, 3 figures
