PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic shock absorber capable of favorably reducing vibrations over a wide range including high-frequency vibrations. SOLUTION: This hydraulic shock absorber is furnished with a cylinder 2 filled with a working liquid and a piston rod 4 projecting through a rod guide 3 furnishing at the end of the cylinder 2 in such a way as capable of being drawn off and inserted. Between the rod guide 3 and piston rod 4, a friction member 15 is installed to give a frictional resistance to the drawoff/insert motions of the piston rod 4. The friction member 15 is made of a resilient substance, and a pressure receiving surface 23 to receive the internal pressure of the cylinder 2 is formed on the inside surface of the friction member 15. |
