PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device employing a cathode ray tube that can sufficiently suppress color smear and realize remarkably high image quality. SOLUTION: The display device comprises a cathode ray tube having a color selection electrode 20 that is fixed to a frame 21 with a tension provided thereto and having an internal magnetic shield 12 that magnetically shields an electron beam, and of a degaussing coil 16 placed to a funnel 14 of the cathode ray tube. The degaussing coil 16 consists of a couple of 1st and 2nd degaussing coils 16a, 16b placed vertically, and the 1st and 2nd degaussing coils have parallel pars 16a-1, 16b-1 extended nearly in parallel with upper and lower sides of the color selection electrode and have roundabout parts 16a-2, 3, 16b-2, 3 going around from both ends of the parallel parts toward an inner side face of ridges of the funnel.
