PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera which can appropriately prevent illegal use by a third person. SOLUTION: The electronic camera has a basic constitution for electronically picking up the image of an object and displaying the picked up image, and further has a communication interface 52 for communication with other units except for a self-machine and a constituting to which the telephone set of a different type such as a digital portable telephone set 62 and PHS 64 can be connected. In a communication mode operation with communication line connection through the telephone set, the input of a password is prompted. Then, the consistency of the inputted password with the password which is previously set and is stored in a camera body 1 is determined. When the consistency is not found, all operation except for a specified operation are inhibited. |
