PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display capable of stabilizing the discharge characteristic and realizing not only a high luminance and a long service life but the color purity equivalent to or higher than that of a cathode-ray tube. SOLUTION: A phosphor layer 12 of at least one color is provided with the fluorescent face prepared by a phosphor mixture, obtained from fluores having a negative-pole and positive-pole potentials, respectively. With this constitution, the polarity of the phosphor, having a negativity on its surface potential, can be converted to the positive direction, and this enables reduction in discharge dispersion or discharge error, to realize a stable picture display.
