PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly receive an incoming call as facsimile equipment to perform facsimile reception though external communication equipment performs an originator information detecting sequence in the case of the existence of the incoming call from the originator, where an incoming destination is previously designated as facsimile, when external communication equipment corresponding to a service is connected in facsimile equipment which is connected to a communication line for performing the service by which originator information is reported to a callee side before a calling signal in the case of calling. SOLUTION: When the incoming call is received, an external ND telephone set connected to the facsimile equipment performs the originator number detecting sequence and, then, the exchanged signal is monitored by a monitor circuit (step 34). A modem detects an originator telephone number from the monitor signal (35) and when it coincides with the telephone number of the originator who is registered with the designation of the incoming destination to the facsimile (36), the incoming call is rapidly received as facsimile equipment to perform facsimile reception (37).
