PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an animation thumbnail even when a recordable information recording medium is reproduced and also to update the animation thumbnail every time the moving image data are added to the information recording medium. SOLUTION: This information recorder includes a buffer memory 3 which stores the data on a part indicating an outline of moving image data, an animation thumbnail generation means 6 which generates an animation thumbnail from the outline data on the moving image data to be recorded when the animation data is not recorded yet on an information recording medium 5 and generates a new animation thumbnail by calling an animation thumbnail out of the animation thumbnail area of the medium 5 and adding the outline data on the moving image data to be newly recorded when the moving image data are already recorded on the medium 5 and a recording medium 4 which records the animation thumbnail generated by the means 6 in the animation thumbnail recording area of the medium 5.
