PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital recorder having an optical display mechanism capable of well displaying an operating state without forcing laboriousness to an operator for visual recognition of the operating state, without the occurrence of uneven display, without weakening the strength of a casing and without the problem of a cost. SOLUTION: According to one embodiment, the digital recorder provided with a display mechanism for operation state display having an exterior finishing material formed with individually independent light transmission parts on the two surfaces adjacent to each other, a single light source disposed within this exterior finishing material and a light transmission means for introducing the light from this light source to the respective individually independent light transmission parts disposed within the exterior finishing material.
