PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute two kinds of speed control of different control states by providing a toroidal continuously variable transmission with only one speed control valve having only one single moving member, without use of an expensive three-layered valve. SOLUTION: The speed control valve 200 is provided which supplies a speed- increasing pressure PH and a speed-reducing pressure PL respectively to the speed increasing chamber 38 and the speed reducing chamber 39 of a trunnion 35. In a low mode which is achieved during forward and reverse drive at low speed, the spool 202 of the speed control valve 200 is moved using a control pressure Psol produced by a linear solenoid valve 108, so that the differential pressureΔP between the speed-increasing pressure PH and the speed-reducing pressure PL assumes a predetermined value. In a high mode which is achieved during forward drive at high speed, the spool 202 of the speed control valve 200 is moved using a link 402 operated by a stepping motor 404, so that the speed-increasing pressure PH and the speed-reducing pressure PL vary, producing the differential pressureΔP. |
