PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image carrier cleaning device having a function for supplying lubricant to the image carrier, and realizable compactly at a low cost. SOLUTION: The device for cleaning the carrying surface of an image carrier 30 rotating in a fixed direction while carrying a toner image of fine particles to be transferred on the carrying surface has at least a cleaning brush 32 formed in the shape of a roll which contacts the carrying surface after toner image transfer while rotating and rubs the carrying surface, a cleaning blade 31 which press-contacts the carrying surface in the downstream side of the cleaning brush relating to the movement of the carrying surface and scrapes a residual toner from the carrying surface, a flicker member 36 for removing the toner adhered to the cleaning brush from the cleaning brush, and a solid lubricant 35 set on the flicker member. The lubricant 35 is for controlling the coefficient of friction of the carrying surface of the image carrier 30, and is applied to the carrying surface of the image carrier 30 through the cleaning brush 32.
