PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving picture display device by which a user can easily select a to be picture to be desirably reproduced on an index display. SOLUTION: The moving picture display device provided with a function that records a moving picture and reproduces the recorded moving picture and with a function that displays a picture relating to the moving picture as an index is provided with index use moving picture recoding medium 101, 102, 104, 106, and 111 that record an index use moving picture resulting deframing the moving picture and with index use moving picture reproduction 103, 104, 106, 111 that display the recorded index use moving picture as an index.
