A trans-platinum based compound of formula (I) for use in a method for labeling a bio-organic molecule, wherein: A represents a reactive moiety for attachment to a label; D represents a reactive moiety for attachment to a bio-organic molecule; and X1 and X2 represent the same or different inert moieties.
