Instruments (300) and implants (200) are disclosed which provide for inserti on of an implant (200) into an intervertebral disc space from multiple approach es to the spine. Specifically, as a preferred aspect of the invention the impla nt includes a tapered portion and the implant (200) may be inserted from multip le approaches to the spine with the orientation and taper properly oriented in the disc space regardless of the approach.
