PURPOSE: To eliminate the confusion of a user or trouble in operation concerning the erasure of contents. CONSTITUTION: It is judged whether respective contents recorded on a recording medium are contents of a re-recording enable type or contents of re-recording disable type, and when the erasure of contents is requested, an erasing processing control is performed corresponding to the judged result. For example, the contents of the re-recording disable type, which are original contents composed of data provided from a microphone or camera, are not erased as long as possible but the contents of the re-recording enable type copied and recorded from another disk or the like are made to be preferentially erased.
