<PICT:1083864/C1/1> Apparatus for applying a generally narrow stripe or deposit of a colouring composition upon a continuously drawn lenght of tubing as in Specification 1,083,863 comprises a support frame S, a hollow housing 34 having at least two openings, a coating application wheel 37 rotatably mounted within the housing with a portion of its periphery extending through one of said openings, a coating transfer wheel 36 mounted within the housing for tangential coating transferring contact with application wheel 37, drive means 41, 45, 38, 39 for rotating the wheels 36, 37, in opposite directions and means 34b for delivering coating through the second opening to the wheel 36. The housing 34 is pivotally carried on the frame S and is adjustable with reference thereto and adjustable wipers W mounted on either side of wheels 36, 37, remove excess material from the wheels at the transfer point. The wheel 37 may be grooved (37d, Fig. 3) whereby the wheel contacts the tubing at two points. In use tubing 16 delivered from mandrel 12 through heat retaining chamber 18 is guided between rollers 21 and 51, 52, in contact with coating application roller 37 at point P.
