PURPOSE: To provide a braking system for a vehicle which increases brake operating force for operation delay of an operation device whose output sometimes delays compared with an input. CONSTITUTION: An input force produced by stepping a brake pedal is assisted by a vacuum booster to be outputted, and a hydraulic pressure generated by a master cylinder operates a brake cylinder. Further, a brake cylinder pressure control device is provided for pressurizing a hydraulic fluid in a reservoir and the master cylinder to supply to the brake cylinder to add a hydraulic pressure. When the stepping force exceeds a predetermined stepping force, if emergency braking is detected by the fact that difference between a real master cylinder pressure and an ideal master cylinder pressure is larger than a predetermined master cylinder pressure difference, pressure is added to the braking cylinder so that the braking cylinder pressure is lager than an ideal master cylinder pressure for the stepping force, thereby obtaining braking operation force at emergency braking. The larger the master cylinder pressure difference is, the larger is made the added pressure. The added pressure may be determined by taking a booster negative pressure into consideration.
