The present invention provides a method for producing antibody fragments tha t discriminate between native and activated vitronectin, which can be used as markers of angiogenesis. Also provided are antibodies and peptides comprisin g said fragments, and therapeutic methods, particularly related to targeting f or antibody-mediated antivascular cancer therapy and inhibiting the adhesion an d migration of tumor-endothelial cells and platelets.
