The method involves using heterogeneous evaporation by integrating a heat pump to enable optimal utilization of the thermal energy collected by a solar collector so heat bearer medium in the solar collector is cooled to a temperature close to ambient temperature. The collector cover is a thin film solar cell that acts as an energy source for the heat pump or re-heats the heat bearer with almost no losses at low solar radiation power levels.
