The table has a top and a pivot mechanism. The mechanism and a length-adjustable support hinged to the underside of the tabletop are constructed, and its hinge points are positioned on table and body wall (1), so that with a pivot movement of the tabletop between use and rest positions (T4,1), the movement path of its edge away from the body wall extends above sections (2,3) of a seat (4) next to the table, which are covered by the table when in use position.
