<p>A liquid crystal projector provided with a liquid crystal cell consisting of a pair of transparent substrates provided with electrodes, and a nematic liquid crystal, with two sheets of polarizer, and with a liquid crystal shutter comprising at least two optical anisotropic layers each consisting of a hybrid-oriented liquid crystal layer, wherein the two optical anisotropic layers are disposed between the two sheets of polarizer with a tilt direction of one optical anisotropic layer and that of the other optical anisotropic layer forming an angle of 85-100 degrees, thereby providing a liquid crystal projector dramatically improved in contrast without a major modification to a liquid crystal projector device.</p> |
