The invention relates to a power module including a self-extinguishing semiconductor such as an IGBT and capable of protecting the semiconductor, and particularly to the prevention of the false detection of IGBT overcurrent. The resistance (R3) of a resistor (11) is determined with consideration of the overshoot of sense emitter current (IS), and a time constant (C3 * R3) is determined by the capacitance (C3) of a capacitor (10) so that it may become equal to the attenuation time constant after an overshoot of sense emitter current (IS). This prevents the false detection of overcurrent due to an overshoot of sense emitter current (IS).
