PURPOSE: A circuit for driving high-intensity discharge lamp is provided to minimize a power consumption by rectifying a high-frequency oscillating pulse and generating a high-intensity voltage with a mini transformer. CONSTITUTION: A rectification and oscillation circuit unit(200) rectifies an input AC(alternating current) signal and generates a DC(direct current) voltage. An inverter unit(400) generates a high-frequency signal by a switching of the first and the second switching element(Q1,Q2). A constant voltage and oscillation circuit unit(300) generates a switching control signal(G1,G2) in case a power measured from an output side is over an appointed value, and initiates an oscillating operation which begins the switching of the switching element(Q1,Q2) in case of an initial turn-on of a lamp. A high-frequency rectification unit(500) converts an input AC power into a full-wave rectified DC through a plurality of bridge diode circuit(BD1-BD4). A high-frequency starting circuit unit(600) preheats the lamp with a high-frequency current. A harmonic containing rate minimizing circuit unit(700) controls a harmonic noise component.
