PURPOSE: A pulse tube refrigerator is provided to achieve an improved efficiency of refrigerator by expanding available area of the cold side heat exchanger and reducing the length of connection pipe between the regenerator and pulse tube. CONSTITUTION: A pulse tube refrigerator includes a compression unit(P) for pumping a working gas, and which has a regenerator(2), a cold side heat exchanger(10), a pulse tube(3), a hot side heat exchanger(6), a phase controller(7) and a storage container(8) which are installed in the compression unit. The regenerator and the pulse tube are communicated with each other through a connection pipe(20). The connection pipe has an end communicated to an end of the refrigerator, and the other end communicated to the side surface of the cold side heat exchanger which is coupled to an end of the pulse tube. The cold side heat exchanger has an inner flow channel(11) with an inverse L-shaped cross section, wherein the inner flow channel interconnects the regenerator and the pulse tube. The inner flow channel has a mesh member(12) for use of heat exchanger, wherein the mesh member is inserted to the pulse tube side outlet end of the inner flow channel.
