A security system in or for use in a building such as a house or like domestic property. The building comprises windows and doors, including an exterior door, each of which is fitted with an automatic closing mechanism for closing the door or window when the building is vacated. Automatic locking devices, and preferably also respective alarm devices, are also fitted to the doors and windows and the system can be set so that these come into operation whenever any door or window is closed. Each closing mechanism 4 can comprise a closer spring 24 which stores energy when the respective door is opened. The spring 24 is held, i.e. so that the door or window can be left open, by an electromagnetic catch 25. The catches of all the doors are releasable from a central location. |
